Mysuru: According to Social Welfare and District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, the 414th Dasara, which was held from October 3 to 12, was organized on a large scale and was therefore relatively richer than the yearly celebration observed in the previous 413 years.
Yesterday, he was speaking to reporters at a downtown hotel.
The Dasara High-power Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had made the decision to celebrate Dasara in great style this year due to the abundance of rains that preceded it. As a result, the programs were designed to attract thousands of people to the city, making it a “People’s Dasara” from the first day until Jumboo Savari.
Dr. Mahadevappa stated that although he had previously celebrated Dasara and currently does so as a Minister, the glitz and celebration of the most recent Dasara had never been witnessed before. Regardless of religion, music, athletics, or literature, the 414th Dasara was the town’s talk of the town because of its distinctive charms. Overall, Dr. Mahadevappa said, it was like crowning the State Government.
Subcommittees
For Dasara’s success, a total of 19 Sub-Committees were established, and each one made an equal contribution without allowing for grievances. The triumph of Dasara has also been aided by the lawmakers from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts, regardless of their party affiliation. No undesirable situations were recorded after strict action. Errors happen frequently during such large events, but Mahadevappa promised that corrective action will be done when planning the Dasara the following year.
The hospitality industry
Due to the surge in travel during Dasara, which saw thousands of visitors from all over the world, the hotel sector has benefited greatly. With a total of over Rs. 100 crore in transactions, the hospitality sector—which includes hotels and restaurants—has written a new chapter in its history. Mysuru has a rich cultural heritage, and it is necessary to boost tourism even more by giving it greater attention.
All-year attractions
According to Mahadevappa, specialists would be consulted before deciding whether to have activities all year round. The Deputy Commissioner has already discussed the issue, and in the days ahead, more talks with the subject matter experts will be held to finalize the programs.
Locals must have fun
The department in question has been directed to keep the city lit until 10 p.m. Dasara illumination will continue till October 23. Mahadevappa explained the purpose of the city’s illumination, saying that the residents who were unable to witness the visual splendor of the illuminated city during Dasara should take advantage of the attractions in lights.
Authority of Dasara
Mahadevappa also promised to address the long-standing desire for a Dasara Authority, similar to the Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA), in order to organize Dasara in a way that is certain to work.
In attendance were Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K.M. Gayathri, Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Vishnuvardhana, Chairman of the Command Area Development Authority (CADA) Mariswamy, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture K. Venkatesh, MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah, and President of the Rural Congress Committee Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar.
